Cuatro Islas, Inopacan, Leyte

Cuatro Islas, a Spanish word which means "Four Island" that belong to the municipalities of Hindang and Inopcan, in the Province of Leyte, Philippines. This group of islands is composed of Apid, Digyo and Mahaba, which belong to the administrative jurisdiction of the municipality of Inopacan, while Himokilan belongs to the administrative jurisdiction of the municipality of Hindang. Cuatro Islas is a 12,500-hectare of protected landscape and seascape situated in the municipalities of Inopacan and Hindang.

Our Province is known to have islets with white sand beaches and crystal clear water. Among these popular white sand beaches here in Leyte is the famous Kalanggaman Island located in Palompon and Canigao Island in Matalom.

Last June 26, 2016, we went to Cuatro Islas and Canigao Island with my family and our family's close friends. Travelling 91.2 km from Merida to Inopcan, we reached their Town Hall after a two and a half hour ride. The first thing we did was to book our boat in order to reach our desired destination. For tourist outside Leyte, contacting a travel guide and travel assistance is a must since tourists crowd to the island especially during summer. The registration for the trip will be in the Town Hall at the Tourism department, while at the back of the Town Hall will be their baywalk which is also the docking area of the pump boats going to Cuatro Islas. A bulletin board is place near the booking area of the baywalk for the tourist to be guide about the boat fares and boats schedules. Once your boat is set, Cuatro Islas will be waiting for you.
